Native Mama Scholars is committed to supporting the integration of Indigenous , family-centered, and traditional knowledge practices within contemporary educational spaces.
Through educational consulting, training, coaching and on-going reflective supervision consultation, we offer a pathway for parents, teachers and school administrators to achieve educational sovereignty.
I’m Valeria
Valeria was born in Vancouver, Washington, and is a citizen of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde. She is a bi-racial Indigenous, Mexican and Colombian self-proclaimed Native Mama Scholar.
Ms. Atanacio has worked in early care and education for 15 years both within tribal and state-led initiatives promoting indigenous educational practices and centering holistic wellbeing to better serve children and families in Oregon.
She lives in Keizer, Oregon and is a proud parent to two young children, Safia, age 7 and Amira, age 5 and most enjoys spending time with her family in her tribal community attending cultural gatherings, reading books in her spare time and learning to bead. Valeria is bi-lingual in English and Spanish, and actively reclaiming her native language, Chinuk Wawa.
